My Budapest Experience

general foto

Hello everybody!

That’s the first article that I am writing in this fantastic blog, and I will try my best to share with you my Budapest experience and provide you with some gorgeous ideas for the upcoming autumn!

First tip: Once you are planning a trip, you should find the best travel buddy!! And guess what, I found him, and for this trip it was Pedro! 🙂  Everything started from just a simple idea to find the appropriate destination for that specific season.

Second tip: Find the best place to stay!!! Where? Airbnb – in that case, we booked a flat in the Pest site where we enjoyed both the sightseeing and the nightlife of this trip.

Third tip: Visit the most famous and beautiful places in the city so to create unforgettable memories.

As we all know, Budapest is divided in Buda and Pest by the Danube River. Unfortunately, the first date of this trip was surrounded by a horrible and dangerous storm, but this never prevented us from our goal. Our first stop was the Hungarian Parliament, which is the world’s third largest Parliament building. (trust me, the tour inside the building is worth it).

Thus, it is a must to take photos of the Shoe Memorial and also with all these crazy and unique men’s statutes that surround the city (my new friends).

Second Day and it is a museum and opera day!!! Yeah, I could never believe that I would be so excited with an opera visit. Fortunately, Pedro arranged everything, so he booked a tour in the Hungarian State Opera House where we learned about the specialities of the whole building, and we enjoyed a unique performance. After that, we felt like kids when we entered the Miniversum Museum – the entire city in a miniature!!

Ohh you think that our trip is so typical and boring? NO WAYY… It was about time to have a break in Szimpla Kert, the most strange ruin pub that I have ever been.  It is a great place for shooting of course 😉

And yeah… we need some exploring again, but, on the other side, in Buda!! Buda has a lot to offer, cross the Chain Bridge, and you will see the Citadella, the Liberty Statute, the Museum of Medical History and of course the Buda’s Castle District.

In case where you believe that it is impossible, it’s not! We visited all those places, and then we relaxed with a delicious hot chocolate and a traditional langos. In the Castle District, you will see the Matthias Church, the beautiful Fisherman’s Bastion, the Buda Castle and you can also enjoy this fantastic city view from above.

What I liked most in this city is their architecture of the buildings.Although some places look ruin and destroyed, their sightseeing places are awesome. You can realise this from the St. Stephen’s Basilica.

Following the introduction of myself, you can realise how sociable I am. That‘s why one of my friends, David, who I met in a law school in Cyprus some years ago, was so excited for having us in his place, so he invited us for dinner and a night walk. It is great to know that you can have friends from all over the world who are more than welcome to show you their city.

I know that some of you are alternative people who like unusual activities. So, I have two options for your Budapest Experience. Firstly, you should rent a bike from Yellow Zebra Bikes, which is located in the city centre, it is cheap and the staff there is amiable and helpful.

Now you may wonder what we did? It is simple, we rent a bike from the city centre, and we rode towards the Margaret Island which is located in the middle of Buda and Pest and then, we rode towards the Heroes’ Square, the Vajdahunyad Castle and the Szechenyi Thermal Bath. Do you believe that this is difficult? Yeah, it is, but it is aminzg it. And to relieve your doubts, you can enjoy a traditional meal over there so you can rest and enjoy yourself.

At this point, you may believe that our trip was demanding and full of walking and sightseeing, but let me inform you that the best part had not yet come. You are not a proper Budapest traveller if you do not relax in a spa. You should know that Budapest was awarded the title of ‘Spa City’. Thus, we chose the Gellert Baths and Spa because of its variety of pools, with the different temperature, and especially the hot pool that exists in the terrace of the building through where you can view the whole city. Yeah, that was the proper Budapest Experience that we could have.
